QR Codes for Product Comparison

Comparison is one of the moments where physical retail can become frustrating. The shopper can see several products side by side, but the differences may not be obvious. Price cards and packaging often highlight different features, making it difficult to choose confidently.

A QR code can solve this by launching a focused comparison experience. Instead of asking the shopper to search online, the display can provide a clear view of product differences: key features, use cases, compatibility, size, performance, included accessories, warranty, reviews or recommended shopper type.

The comparison can begin from a specific product-level code or from a range-level code. Product-level codes are useful when the shopper is already focused on one item. Range-level codes are useful when the shopper has not yet narrowed the choice and needs a guided route through the range.

The best comparison journeys are opinionated, not just technical. They should help the shopper understand which product is right for which need. A feature table is useful, but a simple explanation such as “best for small spaces”, “best for gaming”, or “best for everyday use” often does more to reduce uncertainty.

Measurement is also important. If shoppers compare the same two products repeatedly, that may indicate confusion or a merchandising opportunity. If shoppers frequently move from comparison into one retailer PDP, that may indicate strong purchase intent.

Comparison journeys should also avoid pretending every product is equally right for everyone. Shoppers often want guidance, not neutrality. A good comparison tool helps them trade off price, performance, features and use case in plain language.

MyPlayer can support comparison experiences through QR access, product finder logic, story-style content and engagement reporting. The goal is not to replace the physical display. It is to make the display easier to understand and easier to act on.
